To get a library card, Hellertown Borough and Lower Saucon Township residents need to come into the library with a Driver's License or form of identification with your current address. There will be a small agreement form to fill out.

If you are an ACCESS patron (your home library is anywhere else in PA - Mary Meuser, BAPL, etc.) you must bring a form of identification AND have an active card at your home library. Make sure your home library card is not expired. There will be a small agreement form to fill out.

If you are a Freemansburg resident, you must bring a form of identification AND pay a fee. There will be a small agreement form to fill out.

ACCESS stickers allow a card holder to visit any library in Pennsylvania and get a card there. This can be done for convenience of location, book availability, etc.

Hellertown Borough residents have ACCESS stickers on their library cards.

Lower Saucon Township residents will NOT have ACCESS stickers until July 2025 (contingent upon state approval).

Individuals coming from other home libraries with ACCESS stickers are welcome to get cards at the Hellertown Area Library!

Effective January 1, 2025:

  1. Lower Saucon Residents are no longer required to pay a fee for their membership.
  2. Lower Saucon Residents will regain access to CloudLibrary. To log in, use "H" and your 4-digit library card number (i.e. H1234).

Contingent upon approval of State Aid Library Subsidy Application:

  1. Inter-Library Loan Service for Lower Saucon Township patrons will hopefully resume in July 2025.
  2. ACCESS PA Stickers will hopefully be placed on cards in July 2025 when Lower Saucon Township would be officially added to our direct service area. This sticker allows patrons to become members at other local libraries through their home library membership.

The following libraries have kindly agreed to provide ACCESS PA benefits to LST patrons holding Hellertown Area Library cards until we can officially return ACCESS stickers to LST cards!

**Please ensure that your HAL card is up to date before visiting these libraries for a card with them. Thanks!**

To renew an expired library card, you will need to come into the library with a Driver's License or form of identification with your current address. The library staff will double check the information on your account, update anything, and then change your expiration date to one year from the renewal date.

To renew a book or place a hold, you can ask in-person at the circulation desk, call the library (610-838-8381), or use our online catalog to log into your account and renew/place a hold from there.

Books that are on hold for another patron cannot be renewed.

Hellertown residents are able to participate in the Inter Library Loan Program - meaning that we can place a hold on a material at the Bethlehem Area Public Library or one of its partners. ILLs are delivered to the Hellertown Area Library for you to pick up.

Inter-Library Lon Service for Lower Saucon Township patrons will also not resume until July 2025 (contingent upon approval of State Aid Library Subsidy Application).

We also have a wealth of online resources with books, movies, and more! Check the "Catalogs and Materials" and "Online Resources" tabs on our website.

If you have a suggestion for our collection, let us know and we will add it to our wish list. We are always interested in what you want to see at the library!

The Hellertown Area Library Governing Board meets the fourth Tuesday of the month January through November at 6:30 PM unless otherwise noted.

Everyone is welcome to attend Board Meetings, either in person or over Zoom - you can find the Zoom access link under the "Staff and Board" tab on our website, along with agendas and approved board minutes.
