AI for Parents & Families

About the Event

Artificial intelligence (AI) is everywhere — from YouTube recommendations to homework helpers — but how it shapes our kids’ lives often goes unseen. In this 75-minute session, parents and caregivers will learn what AI really is (and isn’t), how it’s already part of everyday family life, and how to set healthy boundaries while taking advantage of its benefits.

Together, we’ll explore how AI can support learning, creativity, and organization at home — and discuss practical ways to keep kids safe, curious, and informed. Expect real-life examples, live demonstrations, and conversation starters you can use at home to help your family navigate AI with confidence.

About the Speaker

Lindsay O’Brien is a marketing and operations leader specializing in data-driven strategies and the responsible use of AI in everyday life. She leads global marketing at Predictiv and regularly teaches organizations how to integrate AI effectively. As a mom of two young boys, Lindsay brings a personal, relatable perspective to how families can use AI to learn, create, and stay connected while keeping critical thinking and curiosity at the center.

Winter Preparedness

Are you, your home, and your family, prepared and ready for the eventualities that can arise over the cold of winter, storms, and utility outages? This is a good time of year to review safety practices and learn what the common concerns and problems are in our area, and learn what is new.

Fire Captain Matthew Simkovic, from our local Dewey Fire Company,

is coming to Hellertown Area Library Nov 5, 2025, to share his knowledge and experience with us, to help us gain an awareness of these occasional and everyday situations and how to approach them. Keeping ourselves, homes and families safe is always at the top of our list of concerns. The more we learn, the more we can protect ourselves.

Join us and listen to and watch Fire Captain Matthew Simkovic, to gain some awareness and focus for this winter, and feel confident you are prepared for the season and weather.

We’re looking forward to seeing you there! Space is limited, so please pre-register by stopping by the library or calling us at 610-838-8381!

This event is for adults only.

Open Mic Night

Do you love to read? Do you get excited about your newest book, or find yourself talking about your all-time favorites? Let's turn that joy into a cozy evening together.

Join us at the Hellertown Public Library for an Open Mic Night with a twist. Instead of poetry, we'll be sharing short excerpts from books we love – a passage that moved us, made us laugh, cry, contemplate or just want to keep reading well into the night. Bring a book you’ve discovered at the library or one from your own shelf.

We’ll take turns reading (we will keep it under 3 minutes each) and in between, we’ll chat, swap recommendations, and enjoy the simple pleasure of stories. Think of it like a book club – but instead of reading ONE title, we’re sampling many.

Come for the cozy atmosphere, stay for the spark of discovering your next great read!

See you there!

Space is limited, so please pre-register by stopping by the library or calling us at 610-838-8381.

This even it for adults only.
