HAL Catalog

Access to the library's digital collection.  Easily borrow physical items using your mobile device, receive reminders, manage receipts and discover new digital content. To access, add a library card using 'H' followed by your card number (i.e. H1234).

Cloud Library

 An all-digital library that aggregates metadata from libraries, museums and institutions around the country. 

Digital Public Library of America

E-Books (EBSCO) is a collection of free downloadable books for adults and children covering a wide range of topics. To access, add a library card using 'P' followed by your card number (i.e. P1234). 

EBSCO eBooks

 Anyone who lives in the state of Pennsylvania can obtain a Free Library card without charge. Your library card connects you to the latest e-books, audiobooks, streaming media, news outlets, and online learning sites—for free! Virtual Programming, like online story times and Author Events, are also now streaming on a variety of platforms. 

Free Library of Philadelphia

Enjoy movies, documentaries, foreign films and more. To access, add a library card using 'P' followed by your card number (i.e. P1234).

Kanopy

Ships free materials in accessible formats like braille, audio, described movies and large print directly to patrons across Pennsylvania.

Patrons must apply to LAMP for use of their material. 

Library of Accessible Media for Pennsylvanians

 Free braille and talking book library service for people with temporary or permanent low vision, blindness, or a physical, perceptual, or reading disability that prevents them from using regular print materials. Patrons must apply to NLS for use of their material.

National Library Service for the Blind and Print Disabled

 Open Library is an open, editable library catalog, building towards a web page for every book ever published.

  A statewide database of library catalogs, accessible from a single website on the Internet for all residents of Pennsylvania.  To access, add a library card using 'P' followed by your card number (i.e. P1234). 

Power Library

 Choose among free epub and Kindle eBooks, download them or read them online. You will find the world’s great literature here, with focus on older works for which U.S. copyright has expired.

How to Use the Hellertown Area Library Catalog

Creating an account:  

  • ​If you have never used the library catalog before, you must first create an account.
  • Please click on "Create Account" in the top right corner of your Internet screen.
  • Follow the instructions.  You must have your library barcode number ready.  This number can be found on the back of your library card or on a receipt.
  • You will be prompted to create a user name and a password that will be linked to your library card.  Please choose something that you can remember. Library staff cannot retrieve your password for you.

Renewing materials:

  • First you must log in to the catalog. 
  • Please click on "Login" in the top right corner of your Internet screen.
  • Click on the "My Info" tab. 
  • You can either chose to renew single items, or renew all items.  Please note your new due dates!
  • Items that are on hold for other patrons may not be renewed.  If an item is on hold you and you try to renew it, you will receive a message that reads: "[Title] cannot be renewed because another patron needs it. Still due on [date]."

Searching the catalog:

  • Click on the "Catalog" tab.
  • You may search by keyword, title, author, subject, or series.  Please enter what you are looking for in the search bar and then click on the appropriate icon.

Placing a hold:

  • First you must log in to the catalog.  Please click on "Login" in the top right corner of your Internet screen.
  • Click on the "Catalog" Tab.
  • Find the material you are looking to hold.  Click on the title to view the "Details" page.
  • On the right hand side of the Title Details, there will be an icon that says "Hold It!"  Click this button.
  • When placing a hold through the on-line catalog, available material will be pulled the following morning, you will not be notified.
  • You will be notified by phone when your hold is ready if the requested material is unavailable when you placed
