Are you a risky reader? If you are, join us in celebrating the 30th anniversary of Banned Books Week by joining our Banned Books Club. We will be reading a new banned or challenged book each month. Adults and teens alike are welcome to join. The only requirement is you must maintain an open mind. Some books may contain sensitive subjects, such as racism, sex, violence, and drugs.
We meet the first Wednesday of every month at 6:30 PM.

Maybe we can take the mystery out of this question by offering some suggestions of web sites and magazines to help you choose new but similar books to the ones you are reading now. First, let's start right in the library. The library subscribes to "Book Page" a monthly newspaper of sorts for books lovers. "Book Page" reviews new and forthcoming titles and highlights some of the best books each month. The library receives fifty copies each month and it's free for you. Time magazine also publishes mostly monthly book reviews. Back issues check out for three weeks.
Web sites containing tons of reviews and recommendations:
Goodreads - Share book recommendations with friends, keep track of reading lists or form a book club.
New York Times Book Review
Librarything - Register to connect to people who read what you do! Suggestions for book clubs, too.
Amazon
Penguin Publishing Group - Browse this publishers site by title, author or subject.
Worldcat - Search for book titles in libraries worldwide.
Please ask library staff for more recommendations - it's what we are here for! |
